Daniel Mathers – artist
I initially used art as a tool to work with and find insight into my struggle with depression. My work comes from spontaneous thoughts and feelings about society and myself – in a nutshell I approach the canvas or paper and see what happens. My art often mirrors the extremities of our every day human conditions – depression, social angst, lethargy, mania, often tinged with a sense of humour.
My influences are surrealism, expressionism, horror movies, media, the books I read, the music I listen to and anything else that pops into my head.
